About

The specific and primary purpose of the California Conservation of Trails is dedicated to the maintenance, building, marking and restoration of California’s trails and to support the volunteers
involved in trail maintenance and safety in California.

MISSION STATEMENT

HISTORY

Our mission is to protect and enhance the active California lifestyle and unique trails and resources. By forging partnerships across our communities, we strive to create a common vision - uniting the commitment among individuals and organizations dedicated to both preserving our natural resources and promoting access to safe trails, outdoor recreation, and quality of life.

Originally incorporated in 1980 as the Folsom Lake Trail Patrol, the California Conservation of Trails (CCT) became a non-profit and integral part of the Folsom Lake SRA Mounted Assistance Unit, raising funds for the support of the volunteer mounted unit and its projects.

At the request of California State Parks, the CCT became a separate corporation apart and unique from the volunteer Folsom Lake State Recreation Area Mounted Assistant Unit. As a result, the California Conservation of Trails was incorporated in August 2002, and is a nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation, organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
